The Port of Los Angeles on Wednesday reported lower container volume in April compared with the last year.
The number of containers moving through the port fell to 640,330 units, down 9.5 percent.
Imports fell to 326,781 containers last month, down 10 percent. Exports fell 14 percent to 160,130 and empties by 1.5 percent.
French shipping line CMA CGM Group moved a weekly ship call from Los Angeles to Long Beach last year, which lowered the L.A. numbers and improved those at Long Beach.
The Port of Long Beach on Wednesday said April container volume increased about 13 percent to 519,464 units. Imports rose almost 14 percent and exports grew 15 percent. Empties increased 8.1 percent.
The Long Beach port attributed the increases to larger ships calling more frequently and the addition of service lines, including CMA.
