DirecTV Extends ‘March Madness’ Deal

DirecTV Group Inc. said Tuesday that it has extended its agreement with CBS Corp. to carry the “NCAA Mega March Madness” college basketball package on the satellite TV provider’s network.


The package will offer up to 37 games from the event’s first three rounds, offering some of the games in high definition, the El Segundo satellite TV provider said.


DirecTV also said it will expand its carriage of CBS’s CSTV network, a network devoted to showing only college sports. The deal makes the college sports channel available to 8 million DirecTV subscribers.


Shares in DirecTV were up 29 cents to $24.28 in midday trading.
