Several Los Angeles area attorneys were among a group of new judges appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court by Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday.

Two of the appointees, Daniel L. Brenner and Tony L. Richardson, will leave partnerships at big firms to take the jobs. Brenner, 61, was a partner in the Los Angeles and Washington D.C. offices of Hogan Lovells US LLP, while Richardson, 57, was a litigation and arbitration partner at the downtown L.A. office of D.C.’s SNR Denton US LLP.

Other local appointees include Robert B. Broadbelt III, of counsel at West L.A. boutique Leader Counsel LLP and a former partner at Browne Woods George LLP; Patrick A. Cathcart, a shareholder at downtown firm AlvaradoSmith APC; Robert S. Draper, a former litigation partner at downtown giant O’Melveny & Myers LLP; and Marc D. Gross, principal at West L.A. boutique Gross & Gross PC.

All 11 appointees announced on Thursday are Democrats.
