D3Publisher, a Los Angeles developer of video games, has signed an agreement with Glendale’s DreamWorks Animation SKG to create products based on DreamWorks’ films.

D3Publisher, which makes products for the Wii, DS and 3DS, Playstation, Xbox360, and PC platforms, said on Tuesday that it gained license rights to publish games for three animated feature films, “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” “Rise of the Guardians,” and “The Croods,” a film set for release next year.

The Madagascar title will publish first and is scheduled to hit stores in June. The Guardians game will be ready in time for the holiday season. The Croods game will be released next spring in conjunction with the movie.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. D3Publisher, which has operations in Japan, develops both original games and licensed games based on National Geographic, celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels, and popular TV shows and films such as BEN 10, Victorious and Astro Boy.

“D3Publisher has a wealth of experience in both the creative development and marketing of family friendly licensed games,” said Chris Hewish, DreamWorks’ head of global interactive, in a statement. “This, along with their proven track record, makes them an ideal interactive partner for our next three films.”

DreamWorks’ shares were up 13 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $18.99 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
