Added Dimension: MasterImage 3-D Inc., a Hollywood-based maker of 3-D technology tools has received $15 million in venture capital from Seoul, South Korea, electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co. MasterImage focuses on glasses-free content for smart phones, tablet computers and cinema screens.

Fueled Up: Applied Natural Gas Fuels Inc., a Westlake Village alternative fuel supplier, has received $5 million in secured-debt financing from Medley Capital LLC, a New York-based investment firm. The money will be used to purchase liquefied natural gas transport, storage and fueling application equipment, and for general corporate purposes.
WOODLAND HILLS
Setting Sail: Viking River Cruises, which has U.S. headquarters in Woodland Hills, has announced plans to build four ships that are set to launch at the start of its 2012 sailing season. The four ships – Viking Freya, Viking Idun, Viking Njord and Viking Odin – will be a new class of 443-foot-long vessels within the fleet. The ships are part of Viking River’s $250 million fleet development program.

Paper Chase: Sun Valley’s California Document Shredding has been acquired by Cornerstone Records Management LLC, a Columbia, Md.-based date management company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

On Tap: City Tavern, a restaurant and bar, has opened in Culver City. The new business, at 9739 Culver Blvd., is the first state-approved establishment to offer booths with a computerized system allowing customers to serve themselves draft beer from taps.

Recapitalization: Brentwood Associates, a West L.A. private equity firm, has recapitalized portfolio company Teaching Co. Holdings Inc. through a $170 million debt facility. Teaching Co. develops and markets university-level noncredited online courses.

GLENDALE
Hearty Boost: Glendale Adventist Medical Center has received chest pain center accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, a Dublin, Ohio-based group dedicated to fighting heart disease. Hospitals that receive SCPC accreditation have proved a high level of expertise in handling heart attack cases.
