Consulting Business: Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., a Pasadena-based engineering services firm, has launched LeighFisher Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary that will operate globally and provide management, strategy and planning advisory services to the transportation sector.

WOODLAND HILLS

Locked Up: Health Net Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of Woodland Hills-based Health Net Inc., has been awarded a contract by California Prison Health Care Services to provide health care services to the state’s adult inmates. Health Net Federal Services will administer Preferred Provider Organization Network Services on behalf of California Prison Health Care Services.

Pumped Up: A new location for Cardio Barre, a Studio City-based exercise studio franchise, has opened in Woodland Hills. The new location, at 21747 Erwin St., is owned and operated by Lisa Jabboury.

NORTHRIDGE

Shop Shape: Northridge Fashion Center, operated by Chicago-based General Growth Properties Inc., is adding two tenants. Also, a third tenant will expand into more space. Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream store and Angl, a clothing store for young women, are joining the retail center. Forever 21, an apparel shop for young women, will expand from a 5,000-square-foot space to a 25,000-square-foot store.

WESTSIDE

BEVERLY HILLS

Moved On: Omninet Capital LLC, a Beverly Hills private equity firm, has sold Stadco, a downtown L.A. manufacturer of components for the aerospace and defense industries. The buyer is Corinthian Capital Group LLC, a New York private equity firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SANTA MONICA

Closed Up: Douglas Emmet Inc., a Santa Monica real estate investment trust, has closed the subscription period for its current institutional fund. The closing brought the total equity commitments to $549 million.

Face Time: Image Metrics Inc., a Santa Monica animation firm, has acquired Character-FX, a San Diego facial animation firm. Character-FX founder John Riggs has joined Image Metrics as director of avatar development. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WEST LOS ANGELES

Selling Stock: Hythiam Inc., a West L.A.-based developer of health management programs, has announced it has entered agreements with institutional investors to sell 17.5 million shares of its common stock at 20 cents per share. Hythiam plans to use the $3.5 million in proceeds from the offering for working capital and general corporate purposes.
