Northrop Grumman Corp. has promoted business strategy directors Mark Ureda, Karin Flanagan and Larry Harrell to vice presidents in the company’s recently formed strategy and technology organization. Ureda joined Northrop in 1985, Flanagan joined in 1981 and Harrell in 1983.

Arts

The Los Angeles Opera has named Pl & #225;cido Domingo general director, Kent Nagano music director, Edgar Baitzel artistic director and Elizabeth Kennedy administrative director. In their previous positions at the Los Angeles Opera, Domingo was artistic director, Nagano was principal conductor, Baitzel was director of artistic operations and Kennedy was director of development.

Chris Hansen has been hired as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Prior to joining the museum, Hansen was executive vice president of marketing at Limited Inc. in Columbus, Ohio.

Entertainment

Fox Cable Networks Group’s 24-hour action sports channel, FUEL, has hired Jake Munsey as creative director, Scott Paridon as supervising producer, Shon Tomlin as executive producer, Kimiko Warden as director of marketing and Daryl Berg and Johnny Katovsich as music supervisors. FUEL is expected to go on the air in July.

Education

Pomona College has appointed Christopher B. Ponce vice president for institutional advancement. Ponce was previously director of individual giving at Stanford University.

Financial Services

U.S. Trust has named Stephen Lantz and Christopher Cieszko as senior vice presidents and Gary S. Larsen and Susan King Riechel managing directors. Prior to joining U.S. Trust, Lantz was an information technology manager for PacificCare Health Systems Inc., Cieszko was a vice president in private banking with Chemical Bank in New Jersey, Larsen was manager of City National Investment Advisers and Riechel was a fixed-income portfolio manager at First Interstate Bank.

Insurance

SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Brokerage has appointed Eugene Zondlo vice president, specializing in contractors’ performance, payment bonds and insurance. He was previously corporate risk manager for Sylmar-based construction company Tutor Saliba Corp.

Law

Nossaman Guthner Knox and Elliott LLP has hired Gene A. Sitnitsky and John W. Kim as associates in the firm’s litigation group in Los Angeles. Sitnitsky was most recently an associate with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Kim was an associate at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP.

James C. Martin, a Los Angeles-based partner at Reed Smith Crosby Heafey has been elected president of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

Marketing

Steve Kazanjian has been named creative director, broadcast of mOcean, an entertainment marketing firm in Venice. Prior to this position, Kazanjian was executive creative director and partner of the Content Project, a Santa Monica advertising agency.

Philadelphia-based Vector Marketing has promoted Tiffany Sanhamel to branch manager of its Santa Clarita office and Chris Moynihan to branch manager of its Burbank office. Sanhamel joined Vector in 2000 and Moynihan joined Vector in 1998, both as sales representatives.

Heidi L. Smith has been named assistant account executive at Blaze Co.

Real Estate

Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. has appointed Richard H. Peltz senior vice president. Peltz has been the chief information officer since 2001.

Watson Land Co., a private real estate investment trust, has named Michael P. Bodlovich director of leasing. Previously, Bodlovich was a senior associate with Colliers Seeley involved with institutional projects.

Howard S. Stern has been promoted to chief investment officer at Arden Realty Corp., where he will oversee strategic acquisition and disposition initiatives and development at Howard Hughes Center. Stern was Arden’s first vice president of leasing and operations.

Shipping

The Port of Long Beach has appointed Thomas A. Poe to the new position of assistant to the director of government affairs, where he will create government advocacy programs and monitor legislation affecting the port. Previously, Poe worked as chief of staff for 5th District Long Beach Councilwoman Jackie Kell.
