Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said Tuesday that it has received a contract from Wind Shear Inc. to design and construct a motor-sports wind tunnel to test full-scale NASCAR race cars.
The contract is for $40 million and the wind tunnel will be constructed in Concord, N.C.
This marks the first construction of a 180-mile-per-hour wind tunnel designed specifically for race cars, the Pasadena company said.
Shares of Jacobs were up 60 cents to $80.40 in early trading Tuesday.
