Ohlmeyer Staying Put

Contrary to the considerable industry buzz last week, Don Ohlmeyer says he isn’t quitting his job as West Coast president of NBC, TV’s No. 1 network.

“Someone is stirring up this rumor; it’s just B.S.,” said Ohlmeyer, who has occupied his current post since 1993 and is under contract until year 2000. “This is recycling a rumor. There is no truth to it.”

During his tenure, Ohlmeyer, a former TV sports producer, developed such NBC hits as “E.R.,” “Friends” and “Seinfeld.” Last year, NBC posted about $500 million in profits, the only network to finish in the black.
