Grill Concepts Opens Dallas Restaurant

Grill Concepts Inc. said it is opening up a flagship restaurant in Dallas named “The Grill on the Alley” at the front entrance of the Dallas Galleria shopping complex. The Grill on the Alley in Dallas is the fifth of the company’s flagship restaurants to open. The first restaurant was opened in Beverly Hills in 1984 as has since spread to Virginia, Illinois, Texas, Oregon and Maryland. The Dallas Galleria recently completed a multi-million dollar redevelopment.



Superior Galleries to be Acquired By DGSE


Superior Galleries, Inc. a seller of rare coin products, said that will be acquired by DGSE Companies Inc. Beverly Hills-based Superior said DGSE will buy all shares of outstanding stock, which is worth about $14 million, a release said.



Amgen Studying New Drug for Chronic Kidney Disease


Thousand Oaks-based Amgen Inc. said that it will start a large-scale drug study of its Sensipar/Mimpara drugs in chronic kidney disease patients. The late-stage, Phase 3, study will enroll 3,800 patients around the world, the biotech giant said in a Sunday news release, with enrollment in the study is expected to begin in the second half of this year.



Tetra Tech Wins Army/Air Force Contract


Tetra Tech Inc. said it has won a $625 million contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia district, to provide housing and community development services to U.S. Air Force bases in the eastern United States.



Prime Wire Merges With Taiwanese Company


Prime Wire & Cable, Inc., an importer and distributor of wire and cable products, said it has entered into a merger agreement with YFC, a Taiwan-based public company. Prime Wire is an affiliated company of Los Angeles-based Gehr Enterprises and supplies mainly big-box retailers with extension cords, bulk cables, lighting products, automotive cables, power cords, cord accessories, adapters, surge protectors, power strips and switches. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.



Claremont University Appoints New Dean


Claremont Graduate University said it named Ira Jackson as the new dean of the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management. Jackson has held positions at Harvard University, Arizona State University, BankBoston and with the state of Massachusetts.
