Capital Business Credit LLC, a provider of lending services, has promoted Anthony Verderame to senior vice president and business development officer. Verderame was previously regional customer credit portfolio manager with the company.

Douglass Gore has been hired as director of public relations for Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management. Gore was most recently responsible for public relations and internal communications activities for space sensing programs at Raytheon Co. Space and Airborne Systems in El Segundo.

The Griffin Group, a private company with holdings in television and film production, real estate, horse-racing and hotels, has named Ron Ward vice chairman and Robert Pritchard president. Ward was most recently executive vice president. Pritchard was vice president and general counsel.

Fred M. Dressler has been elected as a member of the board of Crown Media Holdings Inc., owner and operator of the Hallmark Channel. Dressler is the former executive vice president of programming for Time Warner Cable.

Health Care


J. Dominic Femino has joined City of Hope, a research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases, as associate chairman of the musculoskeletal tumor program and director of the department of orthopaedic surgery. Femino was most recently head of the orthopaedic tumor program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Michael O’Day was promoted to general manager of Celadon, a Euro-Asian restaurant on Third Street and Fairfax Avenue. O’Day was formerly the dining room manager for the eatery.

Sizzler restaurants has hired Audrey Baldwin as senior director, menu development and product innovation. Baldwin was previously a senior food technologist at CKE Restaurants.

Colonial Supplemental Insurance, based in Columbia, S.C., has appointed Wayne Guzman as district general agent for the Los Angeles area. Guzman was most recently co-founder and director of group sales for Triniti PRM Insurance Services.

Law


Ron S. Grace has been elected as a partner at Nossaman Guthner Knox & Elliott LLP in its Los Angeles law office. Grace has been a general corporate counsel with the firm.

Media


Channel M, a media company providing retail marketing services, has hired Wira Soedarmono as vice president of technology. Soedarmono was previously a principal at WSConsulting, which provides strategic planning, applications development, and data security.

Beatriz Maria Solis has been appointed Los Angeles regional senior program officer for the California Endowment, a private, statewide health foundation. Solis is an adjunct faculty member at California State University, Northridge, and California State University, Long Beach.

Vistage International, a chief executive membership organization, has named Robert S. Grossman as a Vistage chairman in Los Angeles. Grossman is currently founder and president of Focus Creative Group, a consulting firm.

Villa Esperanza Services, a non-profit organization providing care and education for the disabled, has hired Kim Daughton as director of special projects. Also, Casey Gregg was promoted to director of Villa’s schools and Jenny Barnett was promoted to assistant director of curriculum. Daughton was most recently associate executive director at Wise Senior Services, another non-profit organization helping senior citizens. Gregg was formerly assistant director at Villa Esperanza and Barnett was previously curriculum specialist at the organization.

Cindy Rakowitz has joined 5W Public Relations as senior vice president and general manager of the firm’s Los Angles office. Rakowitz most recently founded and managed Rac N Roll Public Relations.

Leslie Tanaka has joined Urban Housing Group, a real estate development company, as senior acquisitions analyst. Tanaka was formerly financial analyst with Watt Commercial in Los Angeles.

The Shidler Group, a real estate investment company, has hired Dallas E. Lucas as chief executive of Pacific Office Properties Inc., a planned West Coast office real estate investment trust. Lucas was most recently executive vice president and chief financial officer of Maguire Properties Inc.

Steve Dickstein has joined Freeman Beauty Labs, a retail manufacturer of beauty and skin products, as a president. Dickstein was formerly vice president of marketing for Ready Pac Foods, a manufacturer of pre-packaged, pre-cut fresh foods sold to grocery stores, mass merchandisers and club stores.

Mikimoto Ltd., a retail jeweler specializing in pearls, has hired Dawn Moore as retail manager in Beverly Hills. Moore was most recently regional director for Chopard, another retail jeweler

Lonseal, a flooring and surfacing company, has hired Lisa Manriquez as technical manager. Manriquez was formerly an environmental health and safety engineer with KPA LLC, a company specializing in software managing regulations, safety and loss control for the automotive industry.

Bruce Wilson has been promoted to vice president of business intelligence at Thomson Elite, a business software company. Wilson was previously senior director of technical services with the company.

Access Integrated Technologies Inc., a film to digital cinema software provider for the motion picture entertainment industry, has hired Bob Weiss as vice president of acquisition and distribution. Weiss was formerly in distribution for Paramount Pictures.

Michael Eaves has joined Encore Hollywood, a visual arts services provider for the film production and entertainment industry, as a digital intermediate colorist. Eaves was previously a digital intermediate colorist for EFilm.

Edison International and Southern California Edison have elected Cecil R. House as senior vice president. House was most recently vice president with the company.

Chanbir Dhingra has been hired by Aamcom, a call center servicing businesses, as director of operations. Dhingra was previously workforce manager at Bank of America’s call center in Glendale.

Entity FX, a visual effects studio specializing in feature film, television and commercials, has promoted Tricia Pifer as head of production. Pifer was formerly visual effects producer with the studio.
