Accounting

Spencer Hong has joined the Los Angeles office of Grant Thornton LLP, an accounting and tax advisory firm, as manager in the assurance practice. Hong was formerly a manager with Gumbiner Savett Inc. and PricewaterhouseCoopers.


Deloitte & Touche LLP has hired John T. Gilbertson as senior manager in the life sciences and health care regulatory practice at its Los Angeles office. Previously, Gilbertson was a partner at Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal LLP.



Advertising

Adlhoch Creative Inc., a Los Angeles-based advertising and marketing agency, has hired Joel Metzger as production manager and Jennifer Plopan as graphic designer. Metzger was previously production manager at City Explorer TV; Plopan was a graphic designer at Joico International.


Kevin Szymanski has been promoted to vice president of client services and vice president of paid programming at Inter/Media Advertising, an Encino-based advertising agency. Szymanski was senior account supervisor and long form director.



Banking & Finance

Citigroup Smith Barney has hired Ira Zito as vice president of wealth management at its Century City office. Previously, Zito was senior account executive and vice president of Fidelity Investments private access.


GE Commercial Finance Global Media & Communications, a provider of debt and equity financial services to the media and entertainment sectors, has appointed Carmen Carpenter as vice president at its Beverly Hills office. Carpenter had served as vice president in the entertainment group at Comerica Bank.



Consulting

Alvarez & Marsal, an independent global professional services firm, has promoted Matt Kvarda and Bradley Lang to managing directors and Ryan McCarthy to senior director. Kvarda and Lang were senior directors; McCarthy was a director.



Entertainment

Overture Films, a motion picture studio, has appointed Sean Furst as executive vice president and Bryan Furst as senior vice president of productions and acquisitions. They were co-owners of Furst Films.


The Directors Guild of America has promoted David Korduner to general counsel. Korduner had served as associate general counsel.



Government

Elizabeth “Libby” Williams has been appointed to executive director of the Los Angeles Economy and Jobs Committee, a private-sector advisory board that assists Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa with issues of economic development. Williams was Westside regional manager and director of community initiatives with the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp.


The Federal Reserve Board has selected Cooke Sunoo to its consumer advisory council. Sunoo is currently director of the Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program.



Law

Proskauer Rose LLP has hired D. Eric Remensperger as partner in real estate and Raj Tanden as partner in the tax practice. The firm also promoted Robert H. Horn and Jonathan E. Rich to senior counsel at its Los Angeles office. Remensperger was recently partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP; Tanden was partner at Morrison & Foerster; Horn and Rich were attorneys.


Kaye Scholer LLP has hired Dominique R. Shelton as counsel. Shelton was recently partner with Folger Levin & Kahn LLP.


McDermott Will & Emery has promoted Jason P. Trenton and Charles E. Weir as partners in its Los Angeles office. Trenton and Weir were associates.



Marketing

DMI Music & Media Solutions, a music marketing group, has hired Jody Friedericks as vice president of creative. Friedericks was previously creative director at Variety Inc.


Horizon Interactive, the digital arm of independent media services agency Horizon Media, has hired Jet Wharton as West Coast group account director. Wharton was recently senior director of marketing at McElroy Inc.



Media

Modern Mom, a Los Angeles-based online publication featuring advice for mothers, has hired Amy Fierstein as director of marketing, Alessandra Lasanta as director of sales and Johanna O’Conner as sales manager. Fierstein was formerly director of marketing for Pulse Mobile; Lasanta was northwest regional sales manager for AmericanGreetings.com; O’Conner was director of strategic accounts for IDG Global Solutions.


Fuel TV, a cable television unit of Fox that features programming of action sports and music, has promoted the following: Brian Olliver, Matt Jones and Dave Paine to senior producer; Erik Hemans, Josh Meyers and Paul Goncalves to producer; Sean Bottcher, Ryan West, Raul “Juni” Manzo and David Brunelli to senior associate producer. Also, Sonnie Sallberg was hired as senior producer. Olliver, Jones and Paine were previously producers; Hemans, Meyers, Goncalves, Bottcher, West, Manzo and Brunelli were associate producers; and Sallberg was manager of television and media production at NBC Sports.


Kevin MacLellan was appointed to president of Comcast Entertainment Group International. MacLellan is currently senior vice president of E Networks.


National Lampoon Inc. has named Zach Posner vice president of corporate development. Posner was previously with the corporate development group of World Avenue.



Non-Profit

Susan Bodilly has been appointed as director of Rand Education, a Rand Corp. division that provides analysis on education policy. Bodilly had served as acting director.


The Valley Industry & Commerce Association, a business advocacy group for economic growth in the San Fernando Valley, has promoted Jessica Yasukochi to vice president. Yasukochi was director of operations.



Real Estate

Alex Quintana has joined Jones Lang LaSalle, a real estate money management firm, as managing director in the firm’s capital markets group. Quintana was previously senior vice president and senior broker with Transwestern Commercial Services.
