30 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK: Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo and Western Union Telegraph reached an agreement in principle for CSC to acquire Western Union in an exchange of stock valued at $375 million. The deal was jointly announced by CSC President Fletcher Jones and Western Union Chairman Russell McFall.
The Newsmaker: McDonnell Douglas Corp. President David S. Lewis declared that the Long Beach-based Douglas Aircraft component was seeing blue sky again. “Douglas is breaking even now and has been on a positive cash flow for several months,” said Lewis, whose comments came one year after McDonnell’s acquisition of Douglas.
