Volunteermatch.org

This site is a very easy to use and comprehensive inventory of volunteer opportunities across the country. They have everything from arts and culture to non-profit board development to legal volunteer opportunities to sports and recreation. It not only offers the full range of types of volunteer opportunities, but it breaks them down by who can volunteer; kids and teens to adults to groups and families. Volunteermatch e-mails your info to the organization and they contact you. It’s a great service both for individuals and for non-profits.

Earth911.org

This site centralizes environmental resource issues into one network. It’s a really interesting partnership between the public and private sectors. You can find out where a certain recycling station is, beach conditions in a certain location, etc. And it’s also educational, at the bottom it will how to keep the beaches clean, etc.

Realtor.com

I just moved back to L.A. and I searched realtor.com. It’s just chock full of content. You can search by ZIP code or price range. They provide virtual tours on a large number of homes, which are actually pretty good. It’s fast and effective, and it’s current, which is the most important part when you don’t have a lot of time to drive all over the place.
