As president of City of Hope Los Angeles, van den Brink is in charge of the flagship campus in Duarte and other sites around the region. He is also the chief physician executive, responsible for ensuring that the most leading-edge patient care is available across the City of Hope system. Van den Brink joined City of Hope in 2023 after 24 years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. A leader in oncology and immunology research, van den Brink has focused on converting laboratory discoveries on the intestinal microbiome and immunology into improved therapies for patients. On the facilities side, van den Brink is overseeing the expansion of the Duarte campus.
