Port of Long Beach
Cordero serves as the chief executive at the Port of Long Beach, one of the busiest ports in the world where he oversees a staff of more than 500 with a budget of more than $630 million as of 2023. Last year the port signed an agreement with the State Lands Commission and the Port of Humboldt Bay to facilitate port infrastructure upgrades to support offshore wind energy development; was awarded more than $2.6 million by the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and broke ground on the $1.8 billion Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility. Last year the Port of Long Beach closed the year with seven straight months of record numbers. October was the port’s busiest month ever and last year it’s busiest year with 9.6 million container units.
