Long Beach Firm Gets a New Owner

Boutique architecture firm Kollin Altomare Architects in Long Beach is bought by Michael Graves Architecture in New Jersey.

New Jersey-based architecture and design firm Michael Graves Architecture, or MG for short, has acquired Long Beach-based boutique architecture firm Kollin Altomare Architects, which specializes in hospitality, residential and mixed-use design.

Kollin Altomare was founded in 1995 and since then has completed the design and renovation of more than 400 hospitality and leisure projects worldwide. Some notable ones include The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club in Dana Point and the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona.

Under the new company structure, Kollin Altomare will be integrated into the larger MG organization, providing expertise in the hospitality sector, according to a release.

“This collaboration builds on our shared commitment to exceptional design, offering an unmatched ability to deliver large-scale and highly specialized projects around the world,” Michael Kollin, founder, president and chief executive of Kollin Altomare, said in a statement. “By joining forces with MG, we gain access to a powerful network and an expanded toolbox of resources and expertise. This is a pivotal moment for our team as we continue to innovate in the hospitality sector while extending our reach into new markets and project types.”

And the purchase of Kollin Altomare is just the latest in a string of acquisitions for MG. Other firms MG recently scooped up include Maryland-based Waldon Studio Architects, New Jersey-based Jose Carballo Architectural Group, North Carolina-based Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce Architects, Washington D.C.-based PGN Architects, Texas-based Parallax Team and Tennessee-based Studio Four Design.

“MG’s welcoming of Kollin Altomare Architects in the MG family aligns with our strategic vision of delivering unparalleled design expertise to clients nationwide,” Joe Furey, president and chief executive of MG, said in a statement.

Recent MG projects include the St. Regis Hotel in Cairo, a Fortune 100 company headquarters building in Washington D.C., The Loutrel Hotel in South Carolina and 1776 by David Burke featuring a Topgolf in New Jersey.
