Snyder-Ellingson’s grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder, opened the first In-N-Out location as a burger stand in Baldwin Park in 1948. Harry Snyder died in 1976, leaving his son Rich Snyder, Snyder-Ellingson’s uncle, in charge of the business until he died in a plane crash in 1993. Guy Snyder, father of Snyder-Ellingson, then took charge of the company until his death in 1999. At the time, Snyder-Ellingson was 17 and was the only remaining direct blood relative to carry on her grandparents’ legacy. She inherited the entire chain in 2017 on her 35th birthday. She owns 100% of the company which now maintains 417 locations across seven states, with the majority located in California. The company saw $1.8 billion in sales in the past year, according to Technomic’s Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report.

Education: Snyder-Ellingson attended classes at Citrus College, a community college in Glendora. She did not graduate.

Charitable Giving: She and her husband Sean Ellingson founded the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation to provide support to organizations helping those with substance abuse and find solutions to human trafficking. Snyder-Ellingson is also the president of the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, a nonprofit assisting victims of child abuse.

Book: Snyder-Ellingson released a book in 2023 that detailed the company’s inner workings and offers up details on the first restaurant and how the “animal style” burger came to be. Proceeds from the book benefit the In-N-Out Burger Foundation and Snyder-Ellingson’s Slave 2 Nothing Foundation.
