Lauren Plichta leads Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA) with intention, integrity, and grit. A thoughtful strategist with a heart for youth, Plichta’s service is undergirded by the belief that every child should be equipped to actualize their full potential. BBBSLA’s mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth, is a foundational part of equipping the youth for the future ahead.
BBBSLA has had an exceptional year of accomplishments under Plichta’s leadership. BBBSLA saw an 8% increase in the amount of new youth served; approval by the City of Long Beach to facilitate a new citywide mentoring program, which will connect 100 middle school students (at five middle schools) with City employees during 2023-2024 school year; and BBBSLA was the first nonprofit organization to have a post-pandemic MOU approved by the Los Angeles Unified School District.
