The number of women-owned businesses in the United States has grown by an astonishing 114% since the early 2000s, with an estimated 849 new women-owned businesses opening every day, according to a report from American Express. As women continue to break into previously male-dominated spaces, it’s safe to say that their presence, ambition and industry leadership cannot be ignored. This year, the Business Journal spoke with six area business owners, including Meridith Baer of Meridith Baer Home, to hear what they have to say about staying ahead of the game, building a positive workplace culture and much more.
