GoGuardian Names CFO, CRO

El Segundo-based Liminex Inc., better known as GoGuardian, has a new chief financial officer and a new chief revenue officer. The company develops educational software for schools designed to maximize instructional efficacy, monitor student activity and filter online content.

Ichiri Osumi was brought in as chief financial officer after most recently serving as the vice president of finance at software developer Wind River Systems Inc. He previously worked at Autodesk Inc., Littlejohn & Co., Bear Sterns Co. Inc. and Brentwood-based Aurora Capital Partners.

“Ichiro’s exceptional track record speaks for itself with his success at scaling technology businesses and delivering strategy, planning and leadership that unlocks growth,” GoGuardian Chief Executive Advait Shinde said in a statement. “His extensive financial leadership will play a key role as we target profitable growth with new and innovative products that help drive positive learning outcomes.”

GoGuardian’s new chief revenue officer is Luke Harris, who has been working at the company since 2016. He previously served as vice president and general manager of TutorMe, which is GoGuardian’s subsidiary company for online tutoring services. The company recently announced that TutorMe has conducted more than 1 million live sessions with students.

“Luke, for his part, has proven himself time and again as an exceptional, results-oriented leader whose creativity, tenacity and unwavering customer focus have solved some of GoGuardian’s most complex challenges as we’ve grown,” Shinde said.

Osumi and Harris are stepping in as CFO and CRO as GoGuardian grows its learning-technology portfolio with the goal of expanding products into the curriculum and instruction space, the company said. It reported a current valuation upwards of $1 billion and launched a new platform in February called Giant Steps. The new tool is a “gamified learning experience” that lets students earn rewards and decorate a virtual avatar as they go through questions and practice sets.

Edulastic, a student performance-assessment service, and Pear Deck, a presentation and lesson delivery company, were previously acquired by GoGuardian and have been fully integrated into its platform. GoGuardian also offers a suite of tools for network filtering and browser monitoring.

“Following its recent launch of Giant Steps … and earlier acquisitions of Edulastic, Pear Deck and TutorMe, GoGuardian is well positioned to make its mark as the world’s leading company driving K-12 learning outcomes through educational technology,” the company said.
