In 2019, Sprengel was named chief executive and president of the Southern California Division of CommonSpirit Health, renamed from Dignity Health. Sprengel oversees more than 25,000 employees and nearly 7,000 physicians, encompassing 17 acute-care hospitals, one behavioral health hospital, and more than 150 ambulatory care sites. Sprengel leads a fully integrated delivery network generating $6 billion in annual revenues with $1 billion in community investments through charity care, community benefits and government program services. Prior to joining Dignity Health, Sprengel, a former emergency room staff nurse, served in executive posts at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
