Hofmann last year became the design school’s sixth president and the first woman to hold the post in the college’s 92-year history. She is guiding the school through expansion and renovation of facilities on both its north and downtown Pasadena campuses. She was also responsible for guiding the college through the pandemic, pivoting instruction to a remote teaching and learning environment and ensuring the return to campus. Hofmann graduated from ArtCenter College in 1997. Following a career in product design, automotive design, and consumer and design research, she returned to the college in 2002, first as an instructor, then, in 2010, as chair of the product design department. She was named provost in 2018.
