UCLA, Chancellor

Block has served as chancellor of UCLA since 2007. Under his leadership, UCLA has become the most applied-to university in the nation, been ranked the nation’s No. 1 public university for six consecutive years and has enrolled greater numbers of students from California, low-income backgrounds and underrepresented communities. Block has built UCLA’s ties around Los Angeles with projects including a major sustainability-focused research partnership, significant expansion of UCLA Health’s services and, last year, the addition of a campus in Rancho Palos Verdes. In addition to his duties as chancellor, Block holds faculty appointments in psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences.
