Chair, Milken Institute

The Santa Monica-based Milken Institute is known for advancing
medical research, education, public health and access to capital for the
four decades it has been in existence. Milken hosts his Milken Institute
Global Conference each spring to, as the conference says, bring the
best minds in the world together “to tackle its most urgent challenges
and realize its most exciting opportunities.” The Milken Center for Advancing
the American Dream is set to open July 4 near the White House
in Washington, D.C. Milken was known earlier in his career as a innovative
financier who specialized in high-yield bonds, but also for his conviction
and sentence following a guilty plea for violating securities laws.
