Camarillo-based chip maker Semtech Corp. said on Monday that it has received a letter from the Securities and Exchange Commission requesting that it provide information regarding stock options granted since January 1, 1997.

The company, which makes supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors said it intends to fully cooperate with the SEC’s informal inquiry into possibly improper stock option practices among companies.

Semtech shares fell 5.6 percent to $14.50 on Tuesday.

Another Camarillo semiconductor maker, Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., said last week it received not only a letter from the SEC, but also a grand jury subpoena from federal prosecutors for information about how it awarded stock options. The company has fired Chief Executive Louis Tomasetta and two other top executives over the controversy, which was triggered by articles in the Wall Street Journal and other publications.
