Accounting
RBZ LLP, a West L.A.-based accounting, tax and consulting firm, has made the following promotions: Michael W. Cantrill to director; Shylesh Viswanathan to manager; Tom Compere to senior supervisor; and Jean-Pierre Mouren-Laurens to supervisor. Cantrill was previously manager; Viswanathan had served as senior supervisor; Compere was formerly supervisor; and Mouren-Laurens was a staff accountant.
Architecture
DeStefano and Partners, an international architecture and design firm, has appointed Andrew Tiffin as managing principal and Douglas Hanson as design principal of its Los Angeles office. Also, Michael Monier was promoted to senior associate. Tiffin was previously principal for management and administration at Coffey & Associates Ltd.; Hanson was principal and founder of Hanson; Monier was previously an associate at the firm.
Kevin Spady has been appointed to associate principal and leader of the health care practice at the Los Angeles division of Perkins+Will, an integrated architecture and planning firm specializing in sustainable design. Before joining the firm, Spady was principal and partner at NTD Stichler Architecture.
HGA Architects and Engineers has hired Jessie Robertson as director of business development in its Los Angeles office. Robertson had recently served as director of business development for HOK, a Culver City-based design firm.
Patrick Winters has joined RNL’s Los Angeles office as senior associate. Prior to joining the company, Winters was senior associate at NBBJ in New York City.
HOK, a design and service firm, has hired Meredith Wollman as director of marketing for the interiors division and Veda Solomon as director of business development for the architecture division of its Los Angeles office. Wollman was previously programs manager for the leadership center at CB Richard Ellis. Solomon was director of business development and marketing for Perkins+Will.
Art & Museums
The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, has named Jennifer Arceneaux director of development. Arceneaux most recently served as associate director of institutional giving with the museum.
Banking & Finance
Sage Group LLC, a Los Angeles-based investment bank, has named Rockwell Schnabel chairman of the board. Schnabel was former U.S. ambassador to the European Union.
Kevin Shultz has joined FTI Capital Advisors LLC, an investment banking subsidiary of FTI Consulting, as senior managing director of the company’s Los Angeles office. Prior to joining the company, Shultz was a financial advisor at the Westcott Group.
AFA Financial Group, a financial services broker and dealer in Calabasas, has hired Bruce M. Ross as chief financial officer. Ross was recently vice president of financial services at American InterContinental University.
R. Joseph De Briyn has been elected to the board of Mellon 1st Business Bank, a subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corp. De Briyn is managing partner at Musick Peeler & Garrett LLP’s Los Angeles office.
George Smith Partners Inc., a commercial mortgage brokerage firm headquartered in Los Angeles, has elected Gary Mozer and David Rifkind as co-managing directors and named Steve Bram and Gary M. Tenzer as senior directors. Also, Todd August was hired as chief operating officer. Mozer, Rifkand, Bram, and Tenzer were previously principals with the firm and August was formerly an administrator at UCLA’s Department of Economics.
Engineering
Psomas, a consulting engineering firm headquartered in Los Angeles, has appointed Wayne A. Smith as corporate director of land development services. Smith was previously project director in the company’s land development group and continues to serve as vice president.
Government
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed the following to judgeships in the Los Angeles County Superior Court: Stanley Blumenfeld of La Canada-Flintridge, Charles Chung of Canyon Country, Lori Ann Fournier of Huntington Beach, and Darrell S. Mavis of Pasadena. Blumenfeld has served as associate and partner of O’Melveny & Myers; Chung, Fournier, and Mavis had all previously served as deputy district attorneys for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Hospitality
Ellen Thornton has been appointed director of catering sales for the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey. Thornton recently served as director of North American sales for three hotels in France: Hotel de Crillon in Paris, Hotel Martinez in Cannes and Palais de la Mediterranee in Nice.
Shutters on the Beach has announced the appointment of Dolly Shukla as guest relations manager. Shukla was recently international VIP passenger concierge for United Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport.
Law
Epstein Becker & Green PC, a general practice law firm, has hired Michael S. Kun as a member of its Los Angeles office. Kun was formerly a partner with Jackson Lewis.
Marketing
TPN, a promotional agency, has appointed Sarah O’Leary as chief creative officer. O’Leary was recently president and chief strategist of Los Angeles-based Methods & Madness, which joins forces with TPN.
