Dr. Antoine Soliman single-handedly created the Small Baby Center at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital and most recently created the Extremely Low Birth Weight (ELBW) Program within that Center. In the neonatal intensive care unit at Miller Children’s, babies who are born less than one to three pounds have a specialized program just to care for those “micro-preemies,” who are most at-risk, thanks to Dr. Soliman. His primary areas of clinical research include safety and quality improvement in the care of preterm infants, noninvasive ventilatory strategies in extremely low birth weight infants, and newborn infectious diseases.
