Dr. Debra Lotstein is the founding chief of the Division of Comfort and Palliative Care at CHLA, expanding the size of the division’s faculty and staff from four to 16 over the past seven years. Through inpatient and outpatient care, the division has greatly increased the institution’s capacity to provide care focused on relief of suffering and promotion of quality of life for children with serious illness and their families. The division focuses on relief of pain and other physical symptoms, psychosocial support for patients and their families, and support for medical-decision making when cure of disease may not be possible.
