Arjun Rao has built a national reputation for handling high stakes consumer class actions and financial services litigation including regulatory matters and government investigations, as well as defending companies in a wide range of actions. This past year he has worked with JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, Discover, American Express and BMW Financial Services in a range of individual and class actions relating to various consumer protection statutes and alleged unfair business practices.
Rao represents Discover in a nationwide putative class action, presenting novel theories of lender liability under the discrimination laws. Recently, Rao’s team at Stroock obtained a favorable ruling on a motion to compel individual arbitration of claims brought by two of the three plaintiffs.  Rao also recently obtained a very favorable ruling for Chase Bank in an action involving an alleged wire fraud scam perpetrated by unknown third-party fraudsters.
