Tetra Tech Inc. announced June 28 that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers selected it for a $60 million, five-year, multiple-award contract for engineering and design services throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The Portland, Ore., office of the U.S. Army Corps chose the Pasadena design firm to provide over the next five years geotechnical analyses, engineering design and other services for water infrastructure projects to manage navigation, maintain water supplies, improve coastal structures and reduce flood risks.

“We look forward to supporting the Portland District in designing innovative solutions to support its comprehensive and diversified civil works program,” Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s chief executive, said in a statement.

Multiple-award contracts are often used by government agencies; they select several contractors as a way to maintain competition throughout the contract period. Tetra Tech’s announcement did not make clear how many other firms also received this contract, nor was an announcement of the contract posted on the U.S. Army Corps’ Portland district website. Media representatives for Tetra Tech could not be reached for a further explanation.
