The five-member Central Area Planning Commission voted Tuesday night to reject the request from Koreatown karaoke bar La Defence to continue selling alcohol, the Los Angeles Times reports. The troubled bar, which a city zoning administrator concluded is a drain on police resources, had become an election issue for City Council President Herb Wesson, who initially supported the club, and did not turn against it quickly enough, according to his opponent, Grace Yoo.
