Passenger traffic at Los Angeles International Airport rose 3.7 percent in June compared to last year and was up 5.1 percent for the first half of this year, according to figures released July 26 by airport officials.
Los Angeles World Airports, the L.A. city agency that runs LAX, reported more than 8 million passengers went through the airport in June, up from more than 7.7 million passengers in June 2017 and up from 7.5 million in May of this year.
Domestic passenger traffic rose 2.9 percent to 5.6 million in June compared to a year ago, while international passenger traffic rose 5.6 percent to 2.4 million.
For the first half of 2018, 42.7 million passengers went through LAX, up from 40.6 million for the same period last year. International traffic rose 6.5 percent to 12.6 million, while domestic traffic rose 4.5 percent to 30 million.
The amount of air cargo tonnage moving through LAX was nearly flat in June, falling 0.7 percent to 207,456 tons. For the first half of 2018, air cargo tonnage rose 2.3 percent to nearly 1.18 million tons.
