Atwater Village-based Xos Inc., a manufacturer of electric commercial vehicles, announced Aug. 9 it has signed agreements to deliver 120 zero-emission electric trucks to 35 FedEx Corp. Ground operators.
The vehicles are expected to be delivered during the fourth quarter of this year and in 2022 to FedEx operators in California, Texas, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

“Working with FedEx Ground operators, who operate every day within FedEx’s global delivery and logistics network, both validates our business model and our innovative, cost-efficient, zero emission and operationally ready products, which are tailored for commercial fleets focusing on last-mile delivery,” Xos Chief Executive and Co-Founder Dakota Semler said in a statement.Â
The company said it was in discussions to deliver more vehicles to FedEx Ground operators in 2022 and 2023.Â
Founded in 2016, Xos Inc. provides Class 5 to Class 8 battery-powered commercial vehicles with environmentally conscious designs.
Xos is on the verge of going public in a deal valued at $2 billion with NextGen Acquisition Corp., a special acquisition company. NextGen's shareholders are scheduled to vote on the proposal on Aug. 18.Â
