Sawtelle-based online multiplayer game developer Singularity 6 Corp. said it completed a $16.5 million Series A funding round Aug. 13.
The company will use the new funding to develop its first fantasy multiplayer game.
Led by Menlo Park-based venture firm Andreessen Horowitz, the round brings Singularity’s total funding since its 2018 launch to roughly $19 million, according to PitchBook Data Inc.
Chief Executive Anthony Leung and co-founder Aidan Karabaich formed the company after working as developers for Sawtelle-based “League of Legends” creator Riot Games Inc.
Leung said in a statement he started the company “with the goal of bringing the magic of virtual communities to a larger audience.”
Existing investors London Venture Partners and Beijing-based Fun Plus followed onto this round, while Andreessen Horowitz is a new investor.
“Andreessen Horowitz has been an early believer in many of the most socially transformative companies the world has seen to date,” Karabaich said in a statement.
“Together, with our existing investors London Venture Partners, the coalition for a world in which games make the world twice as good just keeps getting stronger,” he added.
