PWC links with Cred; Bonfire Ventures invests in drone maker; BlackLine enters Japanese market
Santa Monica-based Cred, a cryptocurrency investing startup incubated by Science Inc. is teaming up with accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers to create secure cryptocurrency standards. Cred launched a mobile investment application in July, and since then has sought to legitimize and secure the cryptocurrency industry. VentureBeat reports that PWC will use its experience to provide insight into the risk management and yield of cryptocurrencies.
Bonfire Ventures Invests in Drone Maker
Bonfire Ventures, based in Santa Monica, helped raise a total $9.5 million for San Francisco drone developer Kittyhawk.io Inc. Oct. 3. Kittyhawk markets its drone software to law enforcement, media, and emergency management outfits. Other notable local investors included Boeing HorizonX, the investment arm of the Boeing Co., according to Socaltech.
BlackLine Enters Japanese Market
Woodland Hills-based accounting technology firm BlackLine Inc. announced Oct. 8 it created a new subsidiary in Tokyo. Blackline K.K. will operate as a joint venture between Blackline and professional services outfit Japan Cloud. The subsidiary will assist Japanese companies in automating their financial services and accounting departments, according to Socaltech.
