Netflix settles Satanic Temple lawsuit; Microcel acquired by Atar Capital; Caltech-led probe lands on Mars
Century City-based private equity investment group Atar Capital disclosed Nov. 26 it acquired Canadian technology hardware distributor Microcel Corp. Socaltech reports Mircocel supplies hardware to Canadian big-box retailers at over 5,000 points of purchase. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Caltech Oversees Mars Probe Landing
NASA’s Pasadena-based Jet Propulsion Laboratory announced Nov. 26 its InSight spacecraft touched down on Mars seven months after launching from Pasadena. The InSight system’s development was overseen by Caltech, which runs JPL for NASA. It plans to examine seismic and geologic activity on Mars, with the hope of learning more about how the terrestrial planets were formed. CNET reports the spacecraft that landed on Mars will also search for signs of current or past intelligent life.
Satanic Temple Settles Netflix Lawsuit
A $150 million copyright lawsuit filed Nov. 8 by The Satanic Temple against Netflix Inc. was settled out of court today. Hollywood-based Netflix utilized a goat-headed Baphomet statue in its series “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which the Satanic Temple said it designed and owns the rights to. The lawsuit terms were not disclosed, but the conclusion of an “amicable truce” was reported by Engadget.
