SpaceX launches communications satellite; Sony bows out of E3 but Activision and Warner Bros. are in; Boring Co. accused of withholding tunnel information

Musk Tunneling Without Permission?

A Nov. 15 report from the Atlantic alleges that after a thorough survey of residents of Hawthorne’s 120th Street neighborhood, many reported no warnings of Elon Musk’s Boring Co. tunnel construction beginning. In fact, the digging started in 2017 and those who reported receiving a heads-up were notified mid-2018. The Hawthorne Planning Commission approved the Boring Co.’s tunnel and car elevator project in 2017 by a unanimous vote.

SpaceX Launches Satellite, Lands Falcon Booster

Hawthorne-based Space Exploration Technologies Corp. launched a communications satellite for the Qatar government Nov. 15, and shortly after landed the booster of its Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX, known for conserving and reusing rocket parts, brought the booster back after a liftoff from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral. The Es’hail-2 satellite, operated by Qatar, is designed to provide secure communication services and satellite television to several countries across Africa and the Middle East. The satellite launch marks SpaceX’s first this November, but eighteenth total, GeekWire reports.

Sony Skipping E3 2019, Activision, Warner Bros. Return

Engadget reports that Sony Interactive Entertainment will bow out of the 2019 Electronic Entertainment Expo, scheduled for June 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This is the first time Sony has opted out of an E3 conference since 1995, and its executives pinned their hesitation to attend on a lack of content to showcase. That said, game developers Santa Monica-based Activision Blizzard Inc. and Burbank-based Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc. are on the list of E3 attendees once again.
