Snapchat adjusts its Android version; $550K for Trill; late-night cancellations at Netflix

Engadget reports that Snap Inc. is making adjustments to its Android version of Snapchat, a revamp promised in November 2017. The alpha test release was discovered Aug. 19, and it’s not available for widespread consumption yet. A distribution date for the final version is not yet known but Snapchat’s goal is to increase performance and decrease buggy behavior on Android.
The Business Journal reports a high-schooler-led start up called Trill Project has netted $550,000 in a seed round financed by UCLA Anderson accelerator Founders Bootcamp. Based in Santa Monica, Trill is an anonymous social network which encourages authenticity; its name is a portmanteau of “true” and “real.”
Two new talk shows on Netflix have been canned after their inaugural seasons. “The Joel McHale Show” and “The Break with Michelle Wolf” launched in February and May 2018 respectively, but viewer numbers for each show weren’t enough for the Hollywood streaming magnate, which runs 1,987 television shows total. These two cancellations reflect the struggle Netflix has in finding a successful hit talk show, The Verge reports.
