FX Plus to stop service; J2 Global acquires more subsidiaries; SpaceX, NASA discover cause of rocket launch failure
Disney Shutters FX Streaming Service
Walt Disney Co. will shut down its FX Plus streaming service, Variety reports. Burbank-headquartered Disney will remove the service after Aug. 20, citing plans to distribute its streaming content primarily through Santa Monica-based Hulu, which it recently took over.
J2 Global Acquires Two Companies
Socaltech reports Hollywood-based technology conglomerate J2 Global Inc. acquired two new companies, Idea First Technologies and Highwinds Capital and Cloak Holdings. Idea First Technologies is a digital media group, and Highwinds Capital and Cloak Holdings operates a VPN network and cloud services business.
SpaceX, NASA Analyze Crew Dragon Issues
Three months after its Crew Dragon capsule failed a routine safety test and triggered a launchpad explosion, SpaceX believes it knows the cause of the problem. According to TechCrunch, SpaceX and NASA discovered the Crew Dragon capsule explosion was caused after highly pressurized oxygen was mixed with the helium components of the rocket’s propellant during an unmanned launch test.
