Sinemia Shuts Down U.S. Operations

Fairfax-based movie ticketing firm Sinemia Inc. is pulling out of the U.S. market, according to reports from TechCrunch. The company announced Thursday it would cease all U.S. operations because of “unexpected legal proceedings” and lack of funds. The legal proceedings mentioned include a patent lawsuit filed by Sinemia rival and chief competitor MoviePass Inc. It’s unclear if Sinemia will continue operations in other countries; in addition to its U.S. operations, it provides ticketing services in the U.K., Canada, Australia and Turkey.

H Code Gains New Clientele

Santa Monica headquartered Hispanic-focused advertising firm H Code announced today it signed a new client, Peruvian TV network América Televisión. Socaltech reports H Code will now represent all of the network’s digital ad inventory. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mitchell in as Snap Marketing Lead

Social media firm Snap Inc. hired Kenny Mitchell as its first chief marketing officer, Variety reports. Mitchell’s marketing tenure includes work for McDonald’s, Gatorade and NBC Sports Group. He replaced former Snap VP of Marketing Steve LaBella, who left last fall. This is Snap’s third key hire in six months following an executive exodus last year – it recently took on a new chief business officer, chief strategy officer and chief communications officer.
