Spatial computing company Rypplzz Inc. has found $3 million of seed funding after launching from stealth in June of last year with a previous $3 million of pre-seed capital. Rypplzz, based in Hermosa Beach, uses geospatial mapping technology to increase programming abilities for augmented reality, virtual reality and Web3 technologies.
The funding round was announced in mid-December and was led by investment firm KB Partners with participation from seed-stage venture capital firm Triptyq Capital. Rypplzz’s platform uses its patented geospatial mapping software, which the company claims is accurate to within 6 inches of an object, adding that GPS precision has traditionally had 10 to 20 feet of accuracy. This enhanced precision allows digital files programmed with augmented reality or virtual reality technology to place content highly accurately with the objects in its field. Rypplzz is available on a SaaS model with implementation and licensing fees, and is designed primarily to be used for advertising and audience engagement purposes at events.
“We’re grateful to our team for building a truly differentiated product that has a plethora of applications across industries,” Rypplzz Chief Executive Josh Pendrick said. “To date, we’ve seen the most interest from the sports, entertainment and hospitality markets, which are using the technology for a variety of use cases, including fan engagement, wayfinding and traffic analytics.”
The company deployed programs last year with the Tucson Convention Center in Arizona and with Cisco Technologies Inc. Rypplzz recently announced new partnerships with electronics company Fractal Antenna Systems and Carson-based marketing agency Americhip Inc., which were finalized in early October. Pendrick said that Rypplzz has seen customer demand grow quickly and, with its new funding, plans to further scale its product and increase its team size.
“Moving forward, we foresee additional growth in the security market, and we also anticipate our technology playing a critical foundational role within smart cities,” Pendrick said. “2024 will be an exciting year for Rypplzz as we get to show the world what our technology is capable of and why it’s going to impact everything from the way we work, to the way we live and everything in between.”
