California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing has launched an investigation into Sawtelle-based “League of Legends” developer Riot Games for alleged gender bias and other discriminatory conduct.

In a June 12 statement, DFEH Director Kevin Kish said the Department was opening an investigation into Riot Games, examining “alleged unequal pay, sexual harassment, sexual assault, retaliation, and gender discrimination in selection and promotion.”

The DFEH reports Riot Games refused to provide adequate information that could allow the DFEH to determine if there was a gender pay gap at Riot.

Riot Games did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The investigation comes after a November lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by current and former women employees at Riot. The suit alleged these employees were subjected to regular sexual harassment and gender discrimination while working for the game company and faced retaliation if they spoke up about it.
