MetAlert Gets 1st Order for Firearm Device
Secure: A GunAlert device with a mobile device running the GunAlert app.

Wearable-technology manufacturer MetAlert Inc. has received the first order for its new GunAlert firearm-recovery device. The downtown-based company has already delivered some of the devices to Range USA, a gun shop and shooting range with locations in 12 states.

GunAlert was developed by Level 2 Security LLC, a recent acquisition of MetAlert, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

Patrick Bertagna, the chief executive of MetAlert, said that the company was excited about receiving its first commercial order from Range USA, an indoor shooting range and gun retailer.

“Level 2’s patented technology, which specializes in monitoring unauthorized use and movement of firearms and other valuable mobile assets, is a natural synergistic extension to our product line and ethos of providing technology that supports saving lives,” Bertagna said in a statement.

GunAlert is available at Amazon.com Inc. and through the Range USA website for $129, which include a free six-month subscription. Six-month renewals are available starting at $23.95.

MetAlert was founded by Bertagna in 2002 to combine his interests in tracking technology and consumer products. He was born in southern France, grew up in Beverly Hills and attended Cal State University – Northridge, where he majored in business.

MetAlert is a pioneer in the wearable-technology industry, Bertagna said.
