A solar company and an electric generator firm are the two newest additions to the recently launched Cleantech Incubator in Downtown Los Angeles.
Eliosolar, which makes solar power systems and shades for buildings, and ClearWater Holdings, which makes electric motors and generators that power buildings and run power plants, join two other companies already in the incubator at 411 S. Hewitt St. near the Los Angeles River.
“Eliosolar and ClearWater Holdings are extremely innovative in their respective fields and further diversify our portfolio of clean, smart energy companies,” said Fred Walti, executive director of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator.
The incubator started this summer with $1 million from the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency and additional money from the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power. It is the only part of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s plan for a clean tech corridor along a three-mile stretch of the L.A. River in downtown that has so far materialized.
The first two companies to set up shop in the incubator are in the electric vehicle charging sector. 350 Green installs electric vehicle charging stations while Gridtest Systems makes portable equipment to test the effectiveness and safety of electric vehicle charging systems.
