EVCS, an Arcadia-based electric vehicle fast-charging network, has partnered with ChargeHub, an app platform that helps drivers locate and pay for EV charging stations.
It will join ChargeHub’s “Passport Hub” platform as a charge point operator, which is a company that builds and manages charging stations and their infrastructure. EV drivers can use the ChargeHub app to find and pay for EVCS charging stations. The company said the Passport Hub platform greatly simplifies roaming between CPOs and e-mobility service providers, which manage the business and billing side of charging station networks.
“Roaming continues to be a key ingredient of EVCS’ strategy for seamless public charging experience and we are glad to be partnering with ChargeHub on that front,” EVCS vice president of partnerships Karim Farhat said in a statement.
The company has declined to disclose the deal’s financial details. It said this will build on its January partnership with Hubject, an international eRoaming network based in Germany that offers drivers services such as charging station locations and in-app payments.
That deal let EVCS use Hubject’s platform to enable roaming for EV chargers, opening the door for partnerships like this one with ChargeHub.
EVCS operates more than 700 chargers across California, Oregon and Washington, and said it plans to double in size this year.
The Passport Hub platform provides drivers with access and information on more than 70,000 public charging stations from multiple CPOs, which EVCS says will make its stations more accessible to drivers.
Drivers are charged on a pay-as-you-go system at a rate of 29 cents per kilowatt for level-2 charging and 49 cents per kilowatt for DC fast charging.
