Jones founded Science Inc. to invest in and develop startup businesses. Science was Dollar Shave Club’s first investor, before it raised seed money in March 2012; in 2016 Dollar Shave Club was acquired by Unilever. The Santa Monica-based Science says it has more than $2 billion in exits, three in 2016. Jones in 2001 founded Userplane, an instant-messaging firm that was acquired by AOL in 2006. In 2005, Jones began angel investing, primarily in Los Angeles. In 2010, he was hired as chief executive of Myspace, where he was tasked with the company’s relaunch, then sold the business the next year. Jones founded Science in 2011.
