O’Hern serves as chief and director at San Monica-based retail real estate company Macerich. The company owns 47 million square feet of real estate, with its portfolio concentrated in California, the Pacific Northwest, Phoenix/Scottsdale, and the Metropolitan New York to Washington, D.C. corridor. O’Hern joined Macerich as chief financial officer in 1993 and played a key role in taking the company public in March 1994. A member of the Nareit advisory board of governors, O’Hern is on the board and is the chair of the audit committee of the public real estate investment trust Douglas Emmett, Inc. He’s also a member of the USC Marshall Board of Leaders and is on the board of the Torrance Memorial Foundation.
