Sweetgreen Inc. has opened its first advanced-order vehicle pickup window.
Dubbed “Sweetlane,” it is located at the Schaumburg, Illinois, location of the West Adams-based healthy food restaurant chain.
The grand opening of “Sweetlane” on Nov. 15 serves as the latest reiteration of the company’s testing of new formats to meet customers where they are, according to a release from Sweetgreen.
Jonathan Neman, a co-founder and chief executive of the chain, said innovation is important to the company and meeting customers where they are is key to its brand mission.
“We hope this new experience provides ease and accessibility for the community craving deliciously fresh and healthy plant-forward food,” Neman said in a statement.
The freestanding building features unique design elements on all sides, including a continuous green dip around the building, a large-scale mural by local Chicago artist Cody Hudson and architectural awning details, the company’s release said.
As the first of its kind from Sweetgreen, the “Sweetlane” provide an effortless experience for visitors in vehicles to pick up online orders from a drive-up window, the release added.
To begin the process, customers place their order through the Sweetgreen website or app, then choose “Sweetlane” as their desired retrieval method. When their food is ready, guests drive through the “Sweetlane” to pick up their order, the release said, adding that dine-in and pickup inside the restaurant will also be available.
The company added that it will eventually install “Sweetlanes” at other locations.
