CarParts.com Inc. in Torrance reshuffled its C-suite after its Chief Executive Lev Peker accepted a similar position at Virginia-based CarLotz Inc., a used vehicle marketplace.
David Meniane, who serves as company’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer, will transition to chief executive role come April 15. Senior Vice President of Finance Ryan Lockwood will become the new CFO.
“CarParts.com has undergone an aggressive turnaround journey, resulting in growth across the business as well as an improved customer experience,” Meniane said in a statement. “I am proud to be assuming the role of CEO at this exciting time and, with Ryan and the team at CarParts.com, will remain focused on business execution, serving our customers and taking CarParts.com to the next level. … I would like to personally thank Lev for his leadership, dedication and commitment to CarParts.com, and wish him tremendous luck in his future endeavors.”
Meniane joined CarParts in March 2019. Previously he served as executive vice president of L.A. Libations, a startup accelerator for consumer-packaged goods companies and as chief executive of Victoria’s Kitchen, a specialty beverage company.
CarParts sells some 731,000 parts for EV and gas vehicles via its namesake website, and competes with Advance Auto Parts Inc., AutoZone Inc., Napa Auto Parts, O’Reilly Automotive Inc. and Pep Boys. The company offers more than 68,000 products under various house labels, including Kool-Vue, Evan Fischer, and JC Whitney, and sources them from manufacturers and distributors in the Asia-Pacific region. The rest of its inventory is branded merchandise – about 663,000 SKUs – that is sourced primarily through drop-ship manufacturers and distributors in the United States.
“2021 was a year of challenges for many but together we have established a solid foundation that will allow the organization to navigate the future,” Peker said in a statement announcing his departure.
